Mission of Windward Choral Society
“For the Joy of Music”
“For the Joy of Music”
Born in 2008, Windward Choral Society, the soul-child of Artistic Director Susan McCreary Duprey, emerged from beautiful Kailua on the Windward side of O‘ahu. Built on a mission of fostering healthier, more vibrant, diverse communities, bonded by joy, love, appreciation and performance of Hawaiian, multicultural, and master choral works, the non-auditioned, community- based chorus of more than 100 voices holds to its commitment to pursuing choral excellence. Dedicated to that pursuit as, “One ‘Ohana, One Family,” WCS exudes the spirit of Aloha, breathing life and love into every note.
As part of the chorus efforts to support the community, WCS singers have not only offered free spring and fall concerts on the windward side, but are also proud to have collaborated with several other organizations, such as;
- Kona Choral Society, with joint concert tours to Europe, the Hawaiian Islands, Japan, and New Zealand
- Yale University Glee Club
- Lehigh University Choir
- Japan’s Chorus Without Borders, with an orchestral concert of Beethoven’s 9th Symphony, “Ode to Joy”
