A JOM entry earlier in the month than usual for a message from Briggs and the JOM Steering Committee:

Aloha all, the Joy of Music is starting…well…now. The Steering Committee has been meeting already and things are gathering steam as the plan comes together and the list of tasks takes shape. Although this is all flowing and evolving there are already needs and it’s never too soon to volunteer to be a part of it! Step one is the formation of committees to get things organized and sequenced and plugged into the overall plan. Yes, the show is still eight months away but there is a LOT to get done between now and then. Here are some opportunities to help out.

First, the Steering Committee members; they your “go-to” folks with questions/ideas/offerings of your assistance:

Chair: Rita Shuford, Vice Chair: Pat Tom, members Cheri Higashihara, Nancy Kickertz, Sue Slavish, Jan Montgomery, Nathan Aipa, Bob Ritchie and Ka’anohi Aipa

Individual committees and some of what they need are below, subject to change as people volunteer and jobs shift around a little. As mentioned above, when in doubt ask the Steering Committee:

Sponsorship – Jan Montgomery and Bob Ritchie are co-chairing this one and are happy to chat with anyone who has experience in this sort of thing or has contacts with potential sponsors for the event. Corporate tables are also available.

Marketing – This committee is coordinating mailings and all sorts of other stuff. Many hands are needed for this effort!

Ticketing/Seating and Registration – Karyn Castro and Nancy Kickertz are overseeing these tasks with help from Sarah Isen There’s also a need for a full team of folks to help with tracking the ticket purchases, table assignments and all that goes along with that. If you’re organized, please jump in. If you’re not organized we can still find something important for you to do! Please talk to Rita Shuford if you can help.

Entertainment – Nathan Aipa is once again leading this effort and there’s a long list of all sorts of things that need doing, especially as the Joy of Music gets closer. Ask him and he’ll tell you!

Decorations – Pat Tom needs people filled with people with ideas, creativity and a desire to make the Joy of Music beautiful.

Silent Auction – There’s way too much going on to list it all. Many are needed to assist and Rita Shuford, the overall event chair, or Cheri Higashahara, the Silent Auction Co-Chair can fill in the blanks. Stay tuned, this is the part of the evening that makes the bank account match the budget.

There will be more to come and everyone is invited be a part.

Thanks,

The JOM Steering Committee, Board of Directors and Advisory Board
